Grand Paris Campus – Airbus
Contracting authority : Airbus
Architects : Béchu & associées + Kardham
Surface area : 42 726 m²
Phases : Studies: 2025 / Construction : 2026
The project involves the construction of a campus of several office buildings, with a roof garden and a wetland area, intended to house the future premises of the AIRBUS group. The employee reception area is located in the Agora space, a central distribution area enclosed by curtain walls and an insulated roof supported by a timber and steel frame. Steel walkways connect the Agora space, the concrete buildings and the roof garden located at the heart of the campus on the second floor.
Agora space – Roof & facade
- Timber grid structure, following a 5.4 m horizontal grid in both directions, supporting the roof of the Agora space. The timber columns are spaced and joined with occasional cross connectors allowing rainwater downpipes to pass through.
- Steel framework at the edge of the roof, extending to the facade to provide support for the glass curtain walls.
Agora space – Mezzanines and staircase
- Steel framework and composite floor with underfloor heating supporting the mezzanines on the first and second floors, as well as the associated vertical circulations.
Agora space – Pergola
- Steel framework stabilised by columns extending onto the forecourt and by connections through the glass façades to the steel framework supporting the curtain walls.
Walkways and canopies
- Steel framework stabilised by the concrete structure of the buildings and by steel column extending over the garden and wetland area on the ground floor.
- Canopies with solid sheet metal panel (to be confirmed) and a steel post-beam structure mark the horizontal path of the walkways and the roof garden at the heart of the campus.
Structural study and design :
- Modelling and preliminary dimensioning
- Development of structural assembly details
- Finalisation of the interaction between structures and facades
Curtain walls
- Aluminium curtain wall delimiting the south-west and north-east facades of the Agora space, offering extensive views and natural lighting. The curtain wall is suspended from the load-bearing steel frame. Automatic sliding doors opening onto airlocks provide a transition between the interior and exterior spaces.
Glass roof
4×4 m² square glass roof modules inserted into the insulated roof and supported by the timber frame of the Agora space. The glass roof modules incorporate smoke extraction operable system.
Facade study and design :
- Preliminary dimensioning of the glass roof and curtain wall frames
- Development of facades and roofing details.
- Finalisation of the interaction between structures and facades
