Parc du Blanc-Mesnil Station

Contracting authority : Société des Grands Projets
Architects : Berranger & Vincent
Location : Seine-Saint Denis
Phases : Studies: 2016 – 2019 / Construction: 2019 – 2026 / Delivery : 2026

The station is designed to create a link between the park and the forecourt, extending seamlessly from the existing landscape. Its overall volume and the high transparency of its facades and origami-like folded roof ensure strong interaction between indoor and outdoor spaces.

After finalizing the design of the steel structure in 2019, our team has been handling the approval process and construction supervision.

Expertise employed

The station emergence consists of a lightweight, slender metal frame. It comprises a primary structure that is fully embedded and isostatically stabilized in the plane by two supports located at the elevator shafts. Vertically, U-shaped beams in galvanized steel with stiffeners support the secondary purlins that support the glass roof or warm roof. The slope of these beams also allows rainwater to drain away through an insulated gutter. Mechanically welded nodes with three to eight branches connect these welded reconstituted profiles beams.

The roof features large windows and opaque elements. The purpose of this roof is to spread natural light throughout the station to the bottom of the shaft, while limiting heat gain in summer, thanks to screen-printed glass with a solar control coating and wooden sunshades. Wood and steel curtain walls make up the exterior facade.

Natural ventilation is the preferred strategy for this project. The glass roof has numerous openings and the façade has many vents distributed around the entire perimeter of the station, ensuring air circulation in the interior spaces. As a result, the space is neither heated nor air-conditioned.
