Podium – 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games

Contracting authority : Paris 2024
Architects : Paris 2024
Surface area : 600 modules
Phases : Design and contractor supervision

The Olympic podiums are iconic and remain a symbol of each edition of the Games. They must be unique, have a strong and recognizable design, and meet numerous constraints outlined in the IOC specifications. Elioth acted as a technical consultant to design the structure and podium facades, develop the fastening systems, and streamline the design to modularize the podiums into interchangeable and reusable components between events, optimizing the number of modules to be manufactured (nearly 50% optimization).

Expertise employed

The structures had to meet strict weight constraints (each module being carried by a maximum of two people) while ensuring sufficient strength to allow entire teams to celebrate their victory freely.

To ensure modularity between events, the transition from the Olympic to the Paralympic Games, and the wide diversity of podium sizes and shapes linked to team sizes, Paralympic requirements, and the characteristics of event sites and ground conditions, the façades and fastening systems were designed with easily removable components. These were detailed and developed all the way through to the studies carried out with the contractor.
