The project is part of a broader housing development intended to accommodate athletes during the Games. Its purpose is to showcase internationally the expertise and capabilities of the French timber industry, in particular through the large-scale deployment of timber-frame facades (FOB), including on high-rise buildings.
The study consisted of a finite element analysis of the loads applied to timber-frame façade panels (FOB) under deformation of the concrete structure. This analysis demonstrated the long-term durability of the panels when subjected to movement from their supporting structure.
The facade design involved the development of non-load-bearing timber-frame facades (FOB) for residential buildings reaching 36 meters in height (IMH – 4th-family building category). In particular, topics related to fire regulations, waterproofing, and compatibility of cladding systems outside approved application domains required extensive research in collaboration with CSTB, AdivBois, and industry partners. This process helped define the framework for the numerous ATEx procedures required throughout the project.
