The timber structure of the main hall consists of a series of frames spanning 33 meters. The gymnasium’s design strongly expresses its structural system—through the alternating positions of the frames that create a folded geometry, the triangulated columns of the frames, and the diamond-patterned mesh formed between the primary beams and the bracing, which helps prevent the primary beams from twisting. The structure was designed and modeled taking into account the seismic context of Réunion.
