To revitalize a rural area on the outskirts of Bordeaux, a low-tech project is taking shape. The market hall becomes a new center of activity, a place for encounters and social interaction, both beneath its roof and atop it. The project embraces minimalism, consisting of a simple wooden structure but with multiple uses: a market under the canopy, an open-air cinema in the bleachers, and a meeting place on the roof. The public space is thus doubled, and this structure becomes a central hub for community life.
The generosity of the space is made possible through rational design. Within a limited budget, Elioth’s expertise was requested to design a sober and elegant structure. The building is nothing more than the expression of its timber frame, whose metal joints are designed to remain invisible. The inclined columns give rhythm to the structure. Its stability relies on a minimal number of elements, freeing up the ground space.
